This vignette was inspired by the frog pond at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary (MA)..

The base is a slice of natural wood painted to look like a water lily. The lily is silk and silk ribbon and is secured to the base with a stem of wire wrapped with wool. The needle felted frog is built over a wire armature and has a solid wool core. The individual toes are wire wrapped with wool and secured with beeswax. The frog’s back was made by wet felting a custom blend of fibers in shades of green, lavender, yellow, blue, purple and bits of iridescent sparkle. The eyes are wool. The frog is not fixed to the lily pad base. Together, the base and frog together are 4.5 inches tall and the wood base is 7.25 wide. Signed at base side.
